About Kristy

Licensed Clinical Social Worker | Certified Clinical Trauma Professional | Yoga, Meditation & Sound Healing Practitioner

Kristy Joy Weidner is a licensed clinical social worker, certified clinical trauma professional, yoga instructor, meditation teacher, and sound healing practitioner dedicated to helping people reconnect with themselves through presence, compassion, and awareness. Her work blends traditional psychotherapy with mindfulness, movement, and sound to support whole-person healing—body, mind, and spirit.

As co-owner of The Village Center for Holistic Therapy, founded in Pittsburgh’s West End Village on November 1, 2011 and expanded to Shaler Township in 2017, Kristy leads a team devoted to integrating community wellness and mindfulness-based therapy for individuals, couples, and groups.

In 2019, she founded inJOY Meditation, a mindfulness-based wellness initiative located at the Rabkin Japanese Zen Garden in Tarentum. What began as a personal passion project has evolved into a thriving community space offering retreats, coaching, and corporate wellness programs that bridge mindfulness and mental health. Through workshops, speaking engagements, and customized employee wellness experiences, inJOY helps individuals and organizations cultivate clarity, resilience, and authentic connection.

Kristy specializes in treating anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, mood disorders, life transitions, and perinatal mental health, guiding clients with authenticity and care. Her integrative approach honors the emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of healing.

Her continued studies reflect her deep commitment to trauma-informed, embodied practice:

  • Level 2 Sound Practitioner Training with Monique Mead — expanding her work through sound, mindfulness, and somatic awareness.

  • Trauma Resiliency Protocol (TRP) Certification with Dan Jarvis and Nick Davis (2024) — a neuroscience-based, non-invasive method combining somatic experiencing, EMDR, and mindfulness to restore mind-body connection and promote emotional regulation through the Emotions Management Process (EMP).

  • Trauma Processing Yoga Group (TPYG) Facilitator Certification with Amy Battersby (2024) — a trauma-informed framework integrating mindfulness, breathwork, somatic practices, and psychoeducation to rebuild safety and body connection.

  • Meditation Teacher Certification with Ralph De La Rosa, LCSW (2023) — exploring the intersection of Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Tibetan Buddhism to deepen compassion and self-understanding.

  • Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training with Lodro Rinzler (2019) — rooted in Buddhist philosophy and accessible meditation teaching.

  • 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Certification with Max Strom (2017, Utrecht, Netherlands) — a formative experience that shaped her approach to breathwork, emotional healing, and authentic living, later expanded through his Breathe to Heal advanced training.

Kristy earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh (2006) and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2008. She holds a Bachelor’s in Education of Persons with Hearing Loss from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2002) and is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). Before entering clinical practice, she taught at Pressley Ridge School for the Deaf, serving youth ages 16–21.

She has extensive experience working with the perinatal population, the LGBTQ+ community, families, and first responders, helping them navigate stress, trauma, and transformation with care and compassion. Through her work with The Village Center and inJOY Meditation, Kristy continues to create spaces where healing feels accessible, grounded, and deeply human—guiding others to rediscover and reconnect to the joy that lives within.
